Katrina Kwan’s latest book

September 19th, 2024

Katrina Kwan, along with Sarah Suk, author of The Space Between Here & Now, will be having a discussion about Kwan’s debut fantasy book, The Last Dragon of the East (S&S/Saga Press $24.99). The event will be held at the Vancouver Public Library— main branch, on October 16, from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

In The Last Dragon of the East, Kwan weaves a fantasy inspired by Chinese mythology. The story follows Sai, a 25-year-old teahouse owner, who lives a quiet life caring for his sick mother. But he has a not-so-secret, unique gift of seeing red threads of fate to match soulmates. Despite helping others find love, Sai avoids his own destiny, as his thread is the only one that appears fraying and gray. His mundane life takes a sudden turn when he purchases two mysterious dragon scales, believed to be a miracle cure for his mother’s illness. To his surprise, the cure works, catching the attention of the powerful and feared emperor. Sai is thrust into a dangerous journey to find a dragon thought to be extinct, leading him deep into magical lands and a brewing war. Along the way, he faces perilous challenges, both magical and mortal, while discovering the truth about his own fate and the identity of his Fated One.
