Whitewater friction fiction

Clea Young’s debut collection Teardown will be launched at the Book Warehouse (4118 Main Street, Vancouver) on Tuesday, October 4, at 7 pm, with special guest Zoey Leigh Peterson.
Another graduate of the UBC Creative Writing department, Victoria-raised Clea Young had an agent prior to the publication of her first collection stories, having had three stories included the The Journey Prize Stories collections, along with stories published in Event, Grain, The Fiddlehead, The Malahat Review, Prairie Fire, Room, and Coming Attractions 13 (Oberon Press). While she is an Artistic Associate at the Vancouver Writers Festival, she has released her first fiction collection, Teardown (Freehand Books, 2016), described as an arresting collection about the way we live now.
The publisher’s promotional literature states, “In Teardown, Clea Young navigates the whitewater of relationships—familial, romantic, between friends old and new. These stories are populated by people you know and people you’ve been. They’re arguing about lamps in IKEA, drinking gin and tonics on a dock in summer, unemployed and without prospects.
