Nina Shoroplova’s  Legacy of Trees: Purposeful Wandering in Vancouver’s Stanley Park (Heritage House $29.95) reveals the 130-year history and botanical properties of hundreds of the park’s most distinctive trees, shrubs, and gardens. Her first book was Cattle Ranch: The Story of the Douglas Lake Cattle Company (Douglas & McIntyre 1979) which she wrote after marrying the ranch’s manager and living there for several years. 9781772033038
