Jewish Book Awards

Alex Leslie is up for two prizes at the upcoming Western Canada Jewish Book Awards. We All Need to Eat (Book*Hug $20), Leslie’s collection of linked stories about a young Queer woman in Vancouver experiencing major life changes is shortlisted for the Nancy Richler Memorial Prize for Fiction; and her book of poems, Vancouver for Beginners (Book*Hug $18) is shortlisted for the Lohn Foundation Prize for Poetry.
Other B.C. shortlisted books include:
-Rhea Tregebov’s Rue des Rosiers (Coteau 2018) for the Nancy Richler Memorial Prize for Fiction;
-Heidi J.S. Tworek’s News from Germany (Harvard Univ. Press 2019) for the Pinksy Givon Family Prize for Non-Fiction;
-Ellen Schwartz’s The Princess Dolls (Tradewind 2018) for the Diamond Foundation Prize for Children/Youth;
-Olga Cambell’s A Whisper Across Time (Jubaji Press 2018) for the Kahn Family Foundation Prize for Holocaust; and
-Martha Salcudean’s In Search of Light (Second Storey Press 2019) for the Kahn Family Foundation Prize for Holocaust.
The winners will be announced at the Western Canada Jewish Book Awards ceremony on December 6, 2020 at 5 pm PST.
