New anthology linked with festival

The Twelfth Annual Word on the Lake Writers’ Festival in Salmon Arm is announcing that the 2015 Askews Foods Writing Contest is now open. Contestants may submit original unpublished works in the following categories: Fiction, Non Fiction, Poetry and Writing for Young People (Middle Grade and Young Adult.)
First place winners will receive a cash prize of $150 plus a 2015 Word on the Lake conference package including banquet ticket ($225 value) and be published in the Askews’ Foods Word on the Lake Anthology which will be available at the festival. Contest closes at midnight on 4 April 2015.
Winners will be contacted prior to the conference which takes place May 15, 16 and 17 at the Prestige Inn in Salmon Arm BC and will be recognized at the Saturday night banquet.

The Askews’ Foods Writing Contest is a feature of this year’s Word on the Lake Writers’ Festival. It’s a Shuswap Writers Association programme to encourage emerging writers.
Celebrating its twelfth year, Word on the Lake provides a three-day conference that attracts participants primarily from British Columbia and Alberta. This year authors such as Charles de Lint, Gail Bowen, Grant Lawrence, Norma Charles and Gary Fjellgaard will lead workshops, master classes and panel discussions.
Word on the Lake Writers’ Festival is the major annual event of the Shuswap Association of Writers which is a BC-registered Society based in Salmon Arm, British Columbia. Its mandate is to organize events to enrich cultural, with a focus on the Written Arts.
