Erin Chan joins Arsenal Pulp Press
September 08th, 2022
Arsenal Pulp Press has announced that Erin Chan is their new marketing and publicity assistant. She was previously a publishing assistant for BC BookWorld this past summer.
Chan holds a BA in English & Pacific and Asian Studies from the University of Victoria, and she is a current student in the Master of Publishing program at Simon Fraser University—where her research centres on zines and indie publishing. She has worked as a teaching assistant for undergraduate publishing courses at SFU, as a research assistant for various archival projects, and as a freelance writer, editor, and graphic designer. Recent projects that she has been thrilled to be a part of include writing book reviews for BC BookWorld; copy editing children’s books for Annick Press; and doing design, research, and project-coordination work for Hazel Meyer and Cait McKinney’s mail art project centred on Vancouver’s histories of porn, feminism, and censorship (produced through VIVO Media Arts Centre and Archive/Counter-Archive).
“I’m ecstatic to be joining the Arsenal Pulp Press team—again!” said Chan of her new full-time position. “I interned with the press last year as part of my studies in the Master of Publishing program at SFU, and I’m looking forward to reconnecting with the (amazing and accomplished) team and continuing the marketing and publicity work that I was mentored in by Jaiden Dembo (former Marketing and Publicity Manager) and Cynara Geissler. And I’m excited and humbled by this opportunity to help support Arsenal authors as the press brings their beautiful, complicated, and much-needed books into the world.”
“We are very pleased to welcome Erin back to the Arsenal Pulp Press team. All of us have been impressed by the variety of excellent work Erin has already done in the Canadian book publishing industry,” says Cynara Geissler, Arsenal’s director of marketing and publicity. “Arsenal-published authors and our literary partners and collaborators will greatly benefit from Erin’s skills in writing, design, editorial, and research. Erin brings a generous, curious spirit and an enthusiastic and professional all-in approach to every project she works on. I’m thrilled to have her as a partner-in-book-publicity and to collaborate with her on making our outreach strategy the best it can be.”
