Readings from Westbank writers
January 07th, 2025
The Federation of BC Writers places a regional spotlight on Westbank Writers, January 21, from 7:00 pm onwards, via Zoom.
The event will be hosted by BC author Meaghan Hackinen and will feature readings from Geneva Ensign, Jeane Manning, Tanya Sarah Pauls and Irwin Wislesky.
Geneva Ensign (at right), originally from the United States, has spent most of her life in Alberta and northern Canada since moving in 1965. With over 40 years of experience as a psychotherapist, primarily working with Indigenous communities, she is now a full-time author based in West Kelowna, British Columbia. Her works include Community Healing: A Transcultural Model (Hancock House, 2018), two poetry collections, a book of Manus Island legends, and a memoir about her brother’s adventures in Alaska. Her latest release, Whittlings: The Human Conditioned as Experienced by F. Robert Langin (self-published $29.99), co-authored with Laurie Finer, was published in autumn 2024.
Jeane Manning spent decades interviewing physicists, inventors and engineers exploring unconventional energy breakthroughs. Known for her focus on clean energy and insights inspired by Nikola Tesla’s followers, she bridges science and the general public through her books, including The Coming Energy Revolution (Garden City Park, NY: Avery Pub. Group, 1996), Energie (2002), Breakthrough Power (Amber Bridge Books & Infinite Energy Press, 2011), and Hidden Energy (FriesenPress $27.49). Based in Kelowna, she is currently working on a book addressing today’s extraordinary times.
Tanya Sarah Pauls, born on Christmas Day 1969, began writing in 1989 while traveling with her father, studying his Ortho-Bionomy bodywork. After settling in Kelowna, Pauls opened a therapeutic practice and wrote for local magazines. A mother of two, she draws inspiration from life’s changes, including a recent separation, to create works like a time-travel novel, children’s dog adventures, and a mystery. Supported by the Westbank Writers group, Tanya looks forward to publishing and sharing her stories.
Irwin Wislesky, an engineer nearing retirement, has spent much of his career designing structures for the physical world. His extensive travels around the globe, however, fostered a deep connection to spirituality through his interactions with diverse cultures. About five years ago, during a trip to Peru, Irwin recalled a poignant memory of his mother’s final moments, inspiring him to write his first novel, Invisible Footprints in Time (FriesenPress $15.99). Captivated by the writing process, he began working on a sequel and another fictional story inspired by his family’s early years in Canada during the 1900s.
