In Clever Girl: Jurassic Park (ECW Press $19.95), Hannah McGregor reinterprets the Jurassic Park series as a queer feminist narrative. She argues that the female-only dinosaurs represent “monstrous women” engineered by men to be intelligent, violent and adaptive, resisting the systems that try to control them. These dinosaurs, especially the velociraptors, symbolize feminist rage as they dismantle the structures of colonialist and capitalist power in the profit-driven theme park. McGregor’s analysis positions the dinosaurs as more than just CGI spectacles, but as powerful symbols of what it means to be angry, monstrous and free. 9781770417397
