Award-winning playwright and actress Lucia Frangione has released her debut novel, Grazie (Talonbooks $21.95) about a mother, Graziana who ends up in the hospital after her violent stalker dies in a car crash. Graziana needs to heal both physically and emotionally and leaves her eight year-old daughter Hazel in the care of her father while she makes a pilgrimage to Italy to bike the Via Francigena. Hazel finds Grandpa Herman is “Grumpy” but she learns to adjust to the old man. Publicity says this gritty and spiritual story covers topics like: “transformation, forgiveness, accountability and rebirth,” and that Frangione “examines what it means to feel connection to oneself, one’s family, one’s culture and to existence.” 9781772015089
