Gord Hill’s Revised Antifa comic

July 04th, 2025

“Comic books were made for Nazi punching,” says Mark Bray in his foreword to Gord Hill’s new edition of The Antifa Comic Book (Arsenal $24.95) due to be released August 26. It will be a revised and expanded version of Hill’s 2018 graphic history of the same title that documents 100 years of fascist rise and the global resistance movements that emerged in response. This 2025 revision features new chapters addressing the rise of fascism and far-right extremism in the past decade. With illustrations and region-by-region breakdowns, the book explores the ideologies, tactics and consequences of fascist regimes and the movements that have fought back.

“There is no one coming to save us,” continues Bray. “We can only turn to each other to build a mass anti-fascist movement in the tradition of those before us who fought and died in the struggle against fascism. The Antifa Comic Book pays homage to these heroes.”

Gord Hill is an Indigenous writer, artist and activist of the Kwakwaka’wakw First Nation. A long-time voice in political resistance, Hill is also the author of The 500 Years of Resistance Comic Book (Arsenal Pulp, 2010) and The Anti-Capitalist Resistance Comic Book (Arsenal Pulp, 2012), both of which use the comic form to educate and mobilize readers around social justice movements. His activism spans decades, from the 1990 Oka Crisis to the 2010 Olympics protest and his visual storytelling continues to connect history, politics and lived experience.
