Brock Macdonald of Vancouver published two books in 2021. Lies I Tell My Children (Amazon $12.69) is a humourous anthology of Macdonald’s Brockton’s Point columns, which were nationally syndicated across Canada between 1988 and 1995. The book includes over 75 short, satiric pieces inspired by everyday life as new parent, neighbour and writer. Faceoff Brewing (Amazon $12.69) is Macdonald’s first novel. Set in East Vancouver, it is a lighthearted look at hockey, craft brewing, teamwork and strategy. A former hockey player in an earlier life, Macdonald also managed marketing and public relations for a BCHL team. In 2004, he left journalism to direct communications for the Recycling Council of British Columbia, going on to serve as CEO of the non-profit organization for 15 years.
