The third book in the Crow Stories trilogy that is written and illustrated by Nancy Vo, The Runaway (Groundwood Books $19.99) is the tale of a young boy’s resilience and hope. After losing his mother to cholera, the fearless and resourceful boy decides to leave home in search of something undefined. He joins two riders at their encampment in exchange for food and works hard while holding onto his purpose. Just as he prepares to leave again, he realizes he no longer needs to.
