Frankenstein meets anti-colonial fantasy in Isle of Teeth (Simon & Schuster $19.99), Tessa Barbosa’s second young adult novel. Set in a world where empire, magic and death collide, the story follows a mixed-heritage soldier and a revenant struggling to survive as their fates become entwined under the watch of Lady Death. Inspired by Frankenstein and These Violent Delights, the novel explores identity, resistance and what it means to be labelled a monster. Filipina Canadian author Tessa Barbosa lives in Vancouver, where she writes fantasy fiction alongside her work in software documentation.  9781668217184
