Poetry reading and live music

March 20th, 2025

In honour of National Poetry Month, North Shore-based writer Trevor Carolan (at right) will be reading from his new poetry collections with live accompaniment from jazz guitarist, Henry Young at West Vancouver’s Ferry Building Gallery on April 6 from 4 to 5:30 pm.

Carolan has published more than 20 books and writes regularly for BC Bookworld and many journals. His ecology poems and “deep journeying” travel reports are hailed by The Vancouver Sun for their “moments of human grace, sublime landscapes and human habitations crusted with time and history.”

An avid bird watcher, Carolan will read from his collection Formless Circumstance: Poems from the Road and Home (Ekstasis Editions, 2019), and from his new work in progress, The Maplewood Suite.

Henry Young has played alongside many of the world’s jazz and R&B greats including Nina Simone, Ray Charles and Miles Davis, from the Newport, Montreux, and African Jazz Festivals to his Smiling Buddha Cabaret-era. Young is Vancouver’s Chinatown hero and guitar great.
