New grant for poets of modest means

The Writers’ Trust has announced the establishment of the DC Reid Poets’ Grant. The new program will anonymously deliver grants of $5,000 to poets of modest means to help fund their writing. (Poets of modest means is defined as those earning less than $30,000 from all income sources in the previous tax year.)
The program was created to support working poets.
In its inaugural year, the new grant will support eight writers, selected by an anonymous jury of three poets from across the country.
Deadline to apply is August 21, 2023.

About DC Reid
DC Reid (at upper right) has published 16 books, including eight collections of poetry, a novel, two works of literary nonfiction, and five books on fly fishing. His poems and stories have been published in magazines around the world and his articles on fly fishing have also been published in magazines, newspapers, and on websites across North America. He wrote a column on sport fishing for the Times Colonist Newspaper in Victoria for a decade. His poetry has been translated into Bengali, Chinese, French, Hindi, Italian, German, Greek, and Spanish. He is at work on three more books of poetry: Translated; Canada, a Country of Poets; and Selected and New. Following these, his 12th book of poems, and 20th book overall, 2084, will be a major project, spanning a century and developing a new western mythology.
