Tsilhqot’in Nation v. British Columbia is the first Canadian case to declare Aboriginal Rights and Title to specific land, and the book, Lha yudit’ih We Always Find a Way: Bringing the Tŝilhqot’in Title Case Home (Talonbooks $35.00) by Lorraine Weir and Chief Roger William is a community oral history of the case. Centered on the Plaintiff, Chief Roger William, and supported by fifty Xeni Gwet’ins, Tŝilhqot’ins, and allies, the book weaves together ancient creation stories, accounts of genocide through smallpox and residential schools, and stories of resistance, including the Tŝilhqot’in War and a 25-year legal battle. The narrative highlights the Tŝilhqot’in’s enduring connection to the land and envisions a future of freedom and self-determination. 9781772013825
