The first Taiwanese-born Canadian appointed to the BC Cabinet, Katrina Chen’s book, A Stronger Home (Orca $21.95) for ages 6-8, due out in May 2025, follows a boy and his mother, who hides from the violence and chaos within their home. Their search for a stronger place to live takes them to a new home by the water, where they discover a seashell that reminds them of the sea and the idea that home is carried within them. As they travel in search of a safe haven, they support each other and find moments of joy despite their fears. Eventually, the mother decides it’s time to return to their old home, where family and friends await to help them create a stronger, safer place together. Co-written by Elaine Su. 9781459836815
