Elly Mossman has created a world where four-year Olivia Petunia lives an adventure-filled life. In the first of three children’s books, Olivia Petunia and the Cow That Barked, (Tough Old Broad Publishing $14.95), Olivia is able to identify voices of animals that she hears through experiences. However, when the voices get mixed up, Olivia has to not only figure out what happened, but also, how to fix the problem. Now living in North Cowichan on Vancouver Island, Mossman was first recognized as a talented artist in grade two. She pursued her love for art through classes, editorial cartoons and now children’s books. The series is edited by Cowichan Valley resident and fellow author Teresa Schapansky. 9781990414794
