Vancouver’s Poet Laureate, Elee Kraljii Gardiner meditates on the forest as a place of refuge as well as harm in her new book of poems, sometimes, forest (Talonbooks $19.95). The title, Gardiner told Margaret Gallagher, host of CBC radio’s North by Northwest, relates to her idea of addressing a beloved, which is “the forest, sometimes or sometimes I’m talking to myself, to a friend, my mom, my daughter, a lover, a memory, the best sense of myself in the future … I’m addressing a wide ecology of selves.” 9781772017113
