Having written books in many genres, Jen SookFong Lee will release her debut collection of poems in April, The Shadow List (Wolsak & Wynn $18) in which she creates a narrator describing what it’s like to live as a woman of colour and a caregiver. With few societal opportunities, the narrator’s voice is is surprisingly filled with desire in Lee’s verses. The narrator also questions the politics of who gets to choose and who doesn’t.
