20th Annual Vancouver Story Slam

September 30th, 2026

Ten of the city’s top writers and spoken-word performers will take the stage on Thursday, December 3, 2026, for the grand finale of the annual Vancouver Story Slam at the historic Vogue Theatre.

Founded in 2004, Vancouver Story Slam is the longest-running live storytelling event of its kind in Canada—and the second-longest-running worldwide. Across twelve months of monthly competitions, more than 100 writers, comedians, and performers step onto the stage to share raw, original narratives without pre-screening or censorship. At each preliminary show, audience ballots determine which tellers advance to the season championship.

The final showdown brings together ten finalists competing for nearly $3,000 in annual cash prizes and the 2026 Storytelling Champion trophy. True to slam tradition, the night’s champion is decided entirely by audience vote.

Produced by Susan Cormier (author of Dead Bees Still Sting) and hosted by Bryant Ross under Queen of Crows Productions, the championship brings live oral narrative back to Vancouver’s premier Granville Street stage.
