PP Wong’s second novel Slice the Water (Goose Lane $26) is a coming-of-age novel set on the fictional island of Mahana where a tyrannical king bans books, exiles disabled citizens and rules through starvation and fear. When teenager Fred joins an underground resistance after his father disappears, he becomes a symbol of freedom—and a pawn in larger global forces. As Fred uncovers the truths behind political optics and digital control, Wong’s taut prose explores power, media and the cost of choice in an increasingly manufactured world. Born in the UK, Wong now lives in Vancouver. She studied Anthropology and Law at the London School of Economics and completed an MFA at the University of British Columbia, where she received the Cordula and Gunter Paetzold Fellowship. She is currently working on her next novel and an updated edition of The Life of a Banana (Tantor, 2023). 9781773104447
