Peter Darbyshire is the author behind the supernatural Cross series and other acclaimed works of fiction, blending dark humour, myth and adventure. His latest instalment, The Wonder Land Wars (Wolsak and Wynn $24.00), sends the enigmatic Cross on a globe-spanning quest to rescue Alice, lost to a whirlpool after sacrificing herself in battle.
