Eddy’s Shadow Puppets (Arsenal Pulp Press $24.95) follows a young boy named Eddy as he meets his grandfather, Yeye, for the first time. What begins as a simple visit quickly turns into a journey through the traditional art of shadow puppetry. With Yeye’s encouragement, Eddy overcomes his hesitation and embraces his inner artist, eventually sharing his new skills with classmates. With soft watercolours and a gentle narrative, Eddy’s Shadow Puppets introduces readers aged 3–8 to an ancient art form and the confidence that grows from creative discovery. Author Karina Zhou also did the illustrations. Her work often draws on themes of Asian culture, community and childhood. Zhou last picture book was Kai’s Tea Eggs (Arsenal Pulp Press, 2023). 9781834050188
