From Logan Lake to bestseller
July 09th, 2025

In February, BC author David S. Young from the small community of Logan Lake released his debut work, A Brief History of Photography (Rocky Nook $40). Despite launching the book from Logan Lake, a district municipality of roughly 2,000 residents (Statistics Canada), the book quickly gained recognition. It earned praise from outlets like DigitalFieldGuide.com, DigitalCameraWorld.com, Digital Camera Magazine (UK), Communications Arts Magazine (USA) and was selected as Bookshop.org’s #1 pick in their “7 Cutting‑Edge Photography History Books to Read in 2025” list.
In May, the book topped its category on Amazon.ca and sold out on Amazon Australia within 12 days of its June 2 release there.
