BC authors shortlisted for GG Awards

The BC literary scene is celebrating exciting news as two local authors, Ruby Smith Dìaz and Léa Taranto, have been named finalists for the 2025 Governor General’s Literary Awards (GGBooks), presented by the Canada Council for the Arts. The GGBooks awards are recognized as a pinnacle of literature, celebrating creators from Canada and inspiring readers across the country.

Léa Taranto is a finalist in the Young People’s Literature – Text category for her novel, A Drop in the Ocean (Arsenal Pulp Press $19.95). A Drop in the Ocean has received prior recognition, having also been shortlisted for the Forest of Reading’s White Pine Award. 9781551529813

Ruby Smith Dìaz is a finalist in the Non-Fiction category for her book, Searching for Serafim (Arsenal Pulp Press $21.95). The nomination offers the author valuable recognition from peers and readers. 9781551529752

The winning books will be announced on November 6, 2025.
