Thrills and chills in Whistler

August 28th, 2025

The Whistler Writers Festival is leaning into the spooky season this year, running from October 30 to November 2 with a program rich in mystery, myth and supernatural intrigue.

Opening night on October 30 sets the tone with Connecting Cultures: Legends, Language and the Land, featuring storytellers Tsawaysia Dominique Nahanee and P̓áq̓emúl Shelby Dan. Sharing Squamish and Lil’wat Nation oral traditions, they’ll explore myths, legends and the deep ties between land and culture.

On October 31, Halloween night comes alive with All Hallows Eve: Murder and Mayhem. This event blends dark humour with chilling fiction, featuring BC-based authors Susan Juby and Liann Zhang, alongside Laugh Out LIVE! and moderated by popular thriller writer Amber Cowie. Expect cocktails, photo booth fun and spine-tingling discussions about crime, social media and mischief.

The festival rounds out on November 1 with: The Bewitching, A Night of Spellcraft and Suspense, an intimate conversation with bestselling gothic horror writer Silvia Moreno-Garcia. Her latest novel, The Bewitching, spans three eras of witchcraft and danger, offering an eerie finale to the festival.

Tickets are available starting September 10 on Eventbrite, with early access for members on September 8.
