Valerie Chalker’s journey into fiction began after a career in medicine as a pathologist. A graduate of The Writers Studio at Simon Fraser University, she shifted from academic writing to creative work, finding freedom in storytelling where imagination—not data—drives the narrative. Her short story “Music in the Making” appears in the award-winning anthology Feisty Deeds: Historical Fictions of Daring Women (Kimberly Sullivan $13.99), which has earned multiple literary honors. Living on a float home in Canoe Pass Village for over 25 years and now settled in Sidney, Vancouver Island, Valerie is deeply connected to coastal life and the local writing community. She is currently working on her first novel about her imagined ancestry. 9798986884455
