Set in 1905 Alberta, Flora Craigie, a young Scottish woman flees her abusive husband in Elinor Florence’s upcoming book, Finding Flora (Simon & Schuster $24.99), due out in April 2025. She leaps from a train to start anew, claiming a homestead on the Alberta prairie. To her surprise, her neighbors are all women: a Welsh widow with children, two American women raising chickens, and a Métis woman skilled at training wild horses. Despite battling harsh conditions and local prejudice against female farmers, these women band together when a hostile government threatens to take their land. As Flora’s husband pursues her and a corrupt land agent threatens her livelihood, the women unite to defend their homes. Florence currently lives in Invermere, BC. 9781668058916
