Welcome to new Ormsby Review site

November 01st, 2019

As of today, November 1, The Ormsby Review, founded in September 2016 by Alan Twigg and Richard Mackie, is now independent of BC Bookworld.

The Ormsby Literary Society was incorporated under the British Columbia Societies Act in April 2018, an advisory board and a board of directors were appointed, and a new website, ormsbyreview.com, was launched. New Ormsby book reviews will be posted exclusively on the new site.

Thank you, Alan Twigg, David Lester, and Beverly Cramp for your encouragement and steadfast help in getting The Ormsby Review off the ground.

And thank you to the hundreds of reviewers who have written 646 reviews in Ormsby’s first three years.

— Richard Mackie, Editor and Publisher, The Ormsby Review

The Ormsby Review works with writers, publishers, and literary professionals to promote books published by or about British Columbia in all its diversity. We review books by all authors, regardless of race, age, ability, gender or gender identity, ethnicity, religion, political belief, marital or family status, and/or status as an Indigenous, Métis, or Inuit person. We seek the same diversity with our reviewers.

Over the past three years, we’ve worked hard to create an inclusive and diverse book review journal for British Columbia — but we still have more to do.

Please join us.

— Richard Mackie
